iPhone, iPad, iPod touch apps now in App Store!
The wait is over! Apple told us today that they have approved the Active911 app for the App Store! Here's the link: http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/active911/id525979138
We couldn't be happier. The app is available for free download, and we encourage all our users with Apple touch devices to get the app and switch from SMS to Apple Push immediately. Apple says it may take up to 24 hours to appear in the App Store. As I write this (9 PM PT May 15) I am able to see the Active911 app in App Store on my iPhone, but not yet on my iPad. A few more hours and I'm sure it will be there.
The new app has several important features. One of them is a "personnel" view that allows you to see the last known status for all personnel in your department. Another one is the live response view, where you see a live map with real time response. As people respond, you can actually watch them drive down the road!
We're very interested in what you think. Please let us know if you have suggestions for improvements.
For those of you who already have the beta app, there is no need to download the version from the App Store - it's the same thing. When we make changes and updates, we give them first to our beta testers and only later to the app store. So if you want the most stable version, delete the app from your phone and delete your TestFlight account; then download the app from the store. On the other hand, if you like the latest and greatest features, feel free to keep your Beta app. We will continue to push out new releases. Just don't try to download both!
