Product Designer (aka UI/UX Designer)

Competencies:
- Foundation and understanding of Design thinking practices
- Proficiency in design software (e.g. Figma, Illustrator, etc)
- Working knowledge of responsive design, design systems, and grid principles
- Problem solving aptitude, business acumen, and a natural curiosity for how experiences come together
- Extremely proactive takes personal ownership for producing positive results
- Strong interpersonal skills, ability to quickly build rapport and establish credibility
- Ability to thrive in a fast paced environment that requires independent self direction, excellent time management, attention to detail, and an aptitude for team collaboration and open communication
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Handle all visual design stages, from concept to final hand off to the development team
- Create original design ideas focused on simple and user friendly interfaces
- Design and present wire frames, storyboards, user flows, process flows, and site maps to communicate interaction and design ideas to peers and client stakeholders
- Mockup and prototype customer journeys
- Work closely with front end developers and project managers to implement UI solutions and ensure the technology fully executes on the vision and requirements
- Maintain overall UI quality and design systems for consistency and ongoing improvement across all web experiences
- Develop, document, and communicate digital guidelines and standards across Active911
- Conducting user observation, research methods, and analysis to understand and break down the challenges of a domain with a mobile first approach
- Facilitating brainstorming and/or design sessions both internally and externally with key stakeholders
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Familiarity with interaction design and information architecture
- A portfolio of successful UX, Visual design deliverables
- Communication and presentation skills: experience presenting complex ideas to clients and colleagues in compelling and actionable ways
- Excellent attention to detail and quality
- A team player with experience working in an Agile development process
- Fluent in English
- Knowledge of basic front end languages (HTML/CSS; JavaScript).
- Degree in Design, or related field
